History – Our Story – “One Vision”
Our History dates back long before our conception in 1974. Robert Ross, an analytical chemist founded The Union Chemical and Antiseptic Company in 1922, Inspired by his grandfathers hard work ethic, and attention to detail which stimulated Derek Ross to create, Scottish Fine Soaps, part of the larger Alexander Ross Holdings group.
A family business set close to the Ochil hills in central Scotland, Derek Ross established Scottish Fine Soaps with a vision, his ambition was to become a “superb toiletry manufacturer”. Derek’s vision is still at the core of everything we do today, “To create exquisite aromatic Bath and Body products for the discerning customer, which will promote well being for the mind and body as well as a truly luxurious and pampering experience”.

We use our strong heritage as the benchmark to achieve his vision. We believe quality and luxury cannot be achieved overnight, two generations of the Ross Family have been involved in soap manufacturing for over 35 years. This expert knowledge, experience and know how has evolved ensuring quality and consistency, that has enabled Scottish Fine Soaps to become renowned for our luxury products and grow into an international brand available in over 30 countries.
Since our Botanical Range in the 1970’s we have always strived where possible to use quality natural extracts in our products, we love to incorporate natural ingredients such as, Organic Milk, Honey, Cocoa and Shea Butter, to increase the excellence of our ranges. Our unique fragrances are created with meticulous detail to ensure wellbeing and opulence, the wonderful fragrances are chosen to compliment the natural ingredients contained in our ranges.
From concept to completion our Heritage, Experience and Ethics, are what shapes us as a business, our products are created with the same love and attention that is at the heart of our family values. We have created a family of products, each with their own unique characteristics and qualities, from our fun loving Novelty range to our classically timeless Au Lait, each range play an important role in the Scottish Fine Soaps family.
